You do have to have read the earlier novels mind as this ties up a few threads from those books. However, this is a story to go into blindly. Events such as the sinking of the Titanic also help ground this novel in time and place and once you’ve read it and stand back to think about it, the true picture emerges.Īah there’s so much I want to say about this novel in a way. It also has a more serious feel since it is largely set in the time of the Irish Civil War and we even get to meet Michael Collins, live at the heart of the time when the IRA was at its most active, not to mention witness scenes of violence in the outlying countryside. This novel has a different feel to the other ones in the series in that we don’t know the identity of the sister until near the end. It read very comfortably and flowed well however and despite the level of detail, it never felt overdone or wrong in any way.īookTrail Travel to the locations in The Missing Sister It’s a wonderfully crafted story and I was astounded by the number of layers, story threads and past memories which were woven together. Not only content with taking us on a journey to find the missing sister, Lucinda takes us to visit each of the six sisters and allows us to travel with them as they search in New Zealand, Toronto, London before arriving in Ireland. The Missing Sister’s story however is rather different and takes us on a historical tour of Ireland, Irish history and more. Upon his death, he left each of them clues and coordinates about their past, where they were from and how they ended up in his family. Each book has taken us to the birthplace and past of each of the sisters who were adopted by Pa Salt, a rich man living out in Geneva. The books in the Seven Sister series have so far taken us on six journeys.
This is the story of the missing sister after all, that elusive member of the D’ Apilese family. This novel is the most ambitious yet in many ways. Get ready for the most adventurous search for a sister yet!
