Diana received a BA in Visual Arts from UC San Diego and her art has been exhibited in Mexico, Canada, and the US.From Girls to Parks and Recreation to Bridesmaids, the female friendship has taken an undeniable front seat in pop culture. Her work is known for introducing materials not commonly found in traditional piñatas including media and technology. Diana builds piñatas that reflect upon her experiences growing up along the border, her identity, and culture. Her art practice explores piñata-making as a method of expression and storytelling. to 4 p.m., and by appointmentĭiana Benavidez is a Binational artist from the San Diego/Tijuana border region. Gallery hours: Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. This collection of piñatas investigates objects transformed into self-defense weapons and addresses common practices embraced on a daily basis as a form of protection against sexual harassment and violence.
